I just heard that, on the first day of marching season in Northern Ireland, the Protestant marchers avoided marching through Catholic areas. This is a good sign! It would be a wonderful thing if, for once, one of the many long-running conflicts in the world were finally resolved. It's too early to tell for sure, but so far things sound promising. Of course, things also looked promising in Palestine a few years ago.
In the mail today, I received my annual "hey, why haven't you renewed your membership"-letter from Amnesty International. As usual, my response is "because I'm a disorganized idiot who forgot to send in a check." Somehow this response never seems to faze them; they still think I should be writing letters to foreign governments. Of course, I've never actually written anything in the past, but there's always hope. Sample letter:

Are you completely stupid? I thought so. | ||

Tonight's episode of "Ally McBeal" was "Drawing the Lines." It was a repeat, but it's one of my favorites. Elaine leads the women of the office in a strike against the firm for sexual discrimination because all of the men have been staring at the mail delivery girl, and Billy admits to Ally that he misses her. I liked it because it gave some insight into Elaine's character and made her more real, less of a gimmick. It did the same for Richard's character, made him more human.
To this point, I would have to say that "Ally McBeal" is the best television series I have ever seen. Period.
Did I mention I haven't finished my taxes yet? I finished my federal return months ago, filing by telephone in early February. However, just about every year I take forever to do my state taxes. Not because it's any more difficult than the federal return (it isn't), but simply because it seems so pointless. I work for the state, so they know how much I made and they know how much tax they were supposed to take out. The result is that, every year, neither of us owes the other one a dime! What's the point in doing all of this just to say, "Yep, that's right."
I tried to login to Ultima Online tonight for the first time since February 24. The servers were down. Typical, just typical. That was probably God's way of saying "Why aren't you working on getting the next issue of The Martyr's Rede ready?"
