On Saturday we drove up to Bloomington to see Val and to meet Jake's baby sister, Alyssa Renaye.
Val seems to be doing pretty well, trying to get ready to move while caring for 3-year-old Jake and 3-week-old Alyssa.

In addition to meeting Alyssa, we also exchanged Christmas presents. We gave Jake a toy castle (Lando's suggestion) and Magtastiks (sort of magnetic tinker toys). Val got Lando a toy Lumpy (the heffalump).
Later, Dawn remarked that she hadn't seen a toy heffalump before. I had been thinking the same thing. Then we realized why -- Springfield no longer has a Disney Store. I guess looking on the bright side, we've saved a significant amount of money and space in the house ever since they closed the Disney Store in the mall. :-)
